Bonjour (:
Have I told you about France? Not properly. Well, then, I will now! I was super-cool! Staying in St Cloud (pronounced san cloo) was pretty amazing, because it is on a bit of a hill beside Paris, so the views are amazing. My pen-friend’s aunt’s apartment has a rooftop terrace, where we sat while the sun went down, and watched the Eiffel Tower sparkling.
It was quite amazing. Hanging out with Chirine’s friends was fun, after I got used to them, and got more comfortable speaking French. The first few days were not nice, though. I didn’t know how to act, or what to do, or anything! I felt very self concious, also. What is it about the French? Their air of cool is quite intimidating (the Spanish and Italians have it too. What happened to the Irish? Why are we so AWKWARD?) And they were all very beautiful. I felt a bit like a person with boils all over their face, in a room full of models. I felt like Uggo. (hah) At the beginning I understood very little. So, whenever anyone laughed I was sure it was at me. But after a while I understood more, and then I was able to pick up what a conversation was about, at least. So I knew when they were talking about me, and when they weren’t. And I started to enjoy myself!
I think the highlight of my trip was going on the METROOO! I took pictures, want to see?
The whole thing was a great experience. It was very lucky of me to get to hang out with typical French teenagers, an insight into the culture! Even so, I do want to go back, and do the touristy things properly. I mean, I saw the Eiffel Tower, but didn’t climb it. I saw the Mona Lisa, but didn’t see anything else in the Louvre. I went shopping, but in chain stores, not wonderfully unique Parisian vintage shops or anything. It was great, but WATCH OUT PARIS, I’LL BE BAAACKKK!
Also, on a completely different note, I found pictures from last December, when I ripped up a pair of tights. I know Susie Bubble did something similar recently, but I swear I did it ages ago! (Does anyone remember? I wore them once, when we were making stuff for the trade fair.. ) Anywhoo, I think it’s kind of blog worthy, and just because they were taken like six months ago doesn’t mean they should be lost in some folder on my computer, does it? No! That would be wasteful, and we can’t be wasteful in this day and age, what with global warming and oil prices and all that jazz.
So here are the pictures (:
After seeing Mamma Mia, I can’t NOT put up some ABBA.
In typical Saoirse style, I will not say much here, and just shove a load of videos in. But see the way by telling you that is padding it out a bit? And the way that pointing out the padding-out effects also added a bit of flesh to the post? So really, by now the post isn’t all that bare, or all that typical of my laziness when it comes to actually WRITING in the blog. So y’all can ignore the start of this paraghraph. Or maybe not, because if you do, then the rest of it will make no sense. So just read it, I guess. Well I suppose even if I had decided to order you to ignore the start of the paragraph, it would be too late, because you would have already read it. Unless you read from the bottom up, like in Japanese. But that would make NO sense, at all at all!
Let me know if you know of anyone who reads bottom up, or back to from, or upside down, or right to left, or diagonally, or under water. And then you can ENJOY THESE VID EE OHHHS !

What time is it?
BLOG TIME!
I know I haven’t blogged properly in ages, and I feel mighty guilty about it. Blogging is good!
So today Chirine, Grace and I were sitting at the quay, beside the lake with the sun shining on the water and the breeze blowing in our hair, and we ended up talking about blogs. It really made me want to get back into it, so here I am, sitting at the LAPTOP (which has no internet) with MICROSOFT WORD open. And I’m writing. I have no way to put photos in here! And that’s the whole idea. You see, usually, when I decide to blog it’s such a big deal, because I haven’t done it in so long that I have millions of photos to share with you (who ARE you? Apart from Grace, who actually reads this?) so I end up just shoving a load of pictures up and saying “agghhhh, I don’t feel like writing anything, I’ve spent so long uploading the pictures, gahahgaragghh”. So that is why, this time, I decided to do a blog WITHOUT PICTURES! Ohmigodd, right? Yes, right. Oh my godd indeed.
Maybe I should explain what’s going on? Well, right now I have a French girl staying with me. Her name is Chirine! (that explains who I was talking about up there ^ and y’all know Grace, she’s over there somewhere, in my links) You see, I was in gay Pareeee for nine days from the 30th til the eighth, I think? Staying with this girly called Chirine, and speakin’ the French! So we travelled back to Ireland together, spent a few days in Dublin (where I bought a not-really-worth-70-euro seventy euro dress, gaahh! It was a spur of the moment thing!) and now we’re in Westport. Poor girl, the wesht of Ireland must be terribly boring for her, being a chic Parisian and all. If you have any ideas of what to do, let me know, even though by the that time she’ll probably be already gone… but let me know anywhoo!
Paris was FABulous. I had never been to France before, so it was all so exciting! I loved it, so so soo much. I felt like I was in a film, being beside the Eiffel Tower and seeing Montmarte and drinking coffees. Of course, I ate tonnes. The amount of bread I ate is insane. And I tried Macarons (not to be confused with macaroon bars, or anything to do with coconut, or macaroni and cheese, these are delicious little cakes biscuit things with cream in the middle. The chocolate is the best flavour, but the pistachio looks cool, because it’s bright green!) and of course I had my fair share or brioche and croissants and pain au chocolat, and gained loads of fat, but I guess it had to be done!
Hmm, what else has been going dowwnn?
Well, I was doing some sewing before France. After my work experience at John Rocha, I had loads of fabric. Loads, as in… Imagine five potato sacks full of fabric. That much, maybe more. They got me to sort out the fabric bin, and said I could take as much as I wanted! So of course, I took loads. How could I pass up the opportunity? It’s impossible to get good fabric in Ireland, and as this is John Rocha-worthy, I’m sure it’s very good quality. So, anyhow, I made a top thing, and a skirt/shorts thing. Both are “things”. By that I mean that they’re not really JUST a piece of clothing. The top is not just a top. It’s like a t-shirt mixed with a waistcoat mixed with a bra… yeah!! And the short/skirt thing is just that: a mix between a pair of shorts and a skirt, but yet not your traditional skort!
I’ll show all, soonish. (hmm, if I was you I wouldn’t trust me)
I’ve also got my head all kind of sorted out about going to university! I want to go to St Martin’s in London, but to do that you need to have a foundation art course done, so I might do that in Dublin first, if I can! Guess how much the fees are for there, though?
3,200 sterling a year. EFF! That is so much. And then food and accommodation, oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my goddd! But it’s exciting.
I’m gobsmackered about that James guy with the amazing work experience. TOTALLY gob-SMACKED! So, I thought, if he can do it then so can I! I’m writing to loads of designers in London for next year. Gareth Pugh, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, all the other Londonians. Wouldn’t that be amazing! And I’m thinking that if the bigger ones don’t work out then maybe the smaller, more in need of a hand ones might. Such as Gareth Pugh, and perhaps Henry Holland? I could meet Aggy Aggy Aggy, OI OI OI! So, that is all very exciting. I want to get my clothing finished first though, so I can send pictures to impress them. (:
I think I’ve run dry of things to talk about, for the moment.
I’m listening to Laura Sheeran. Go to her myspace and buy her cds, NOW! They’re very good, and the songs won’t be available for long! As soon as she releases her album they’ll be lost forever, unless you pay like a billion euro for a copy. Right now they’re six euro each, wowow! She also has a blog. Read!
Give me feedback on this new Saoirse blog! My first ranty one, make a wish!
